Goushin Rises Fast In Machining Center/ATC Market

Just shy of its first decade, Goushin Machinery Tools Co., Ltd. Has rapidly established itself as a formidable name in the vertical-machining center and automatic tool-changer (ATC) market in Taiwan.

This rapid rise has been built in part on the company's strong R&D team, which has developed a number of innovative products and advanced manufacturing techniques. The company has further honed its manufacturing ability with technological support from a long-term business partner.

At present the company's major product lines include vertical machining centers, gear-type spindle heads, and ATCs. The company's BT50 spindle head features a maximum spindle rotation speed of 10,000 rpm, while the BT40 type clocks in between 12,000 rpm to 15,000 rpm.

Company president Chen Yi-chen says that Goushin specializes in high-precision and highly durable gear-type spindle heads suitable for use in machining centers and milling machines.

The company exports most of its output to mainland China, Southeast Asia, the U.S., and Europe on original equipment/design/brand manufacturing terms.

"We export half of our production to mainland China, where demand has been booming over the past several years," says Chen, conceding, however, that government brakes on the economy are beginning to pinch sales there. "I think the macroeconomic controls will continue to have an impact on our sales to the mainland in the first half of this year."

With a work force of 10, the company can supply up to 15 vertical-machining centers per month from its 10,800-square-foot factory. The company can also flexibly expand or speed up production with the support of satellite factories near its central Taiwan plant, says Chen.

The company recently acquired a new plant near its current facility to handle new product lines, including double-column and horizontal machining centers. Chen says his company will introduce the double-column machining center in the next few months.

Goushin will show off its impressive line at two international machine-tool shows to be held in Taipei in March and Shanghai in April.
