Eternal Chemical successfully develops high-end coatings

Taipei, Sept. 12, 2003 (CENS)--Eternal Chemical Co., one of Taiwan's dynamic manufacturers of plastic materials, has recently successfully developed specialty coating material for cell phone cases and hard coating material with nanotechnology.

To join the high-tech industry, the company has spent more than NT$400 million (US$11.6 million) to set up a high-tech building as its R & D center for the development of high-tech products. And in the second half of this year the company has started to reap fruits, and will actively move to further upgrade its original plastic materials. It plans to establish a new plant focusing on the production of positive photoresist for liquid crystal display (LCD) and color resist for color filter.

Over the past few years, Eternal Chemical, based on its capability in the production of advanced plastics materials, has expanded its operations to high-tech sector and generated pretty good results. Its newly developed specialty coatings for mobile phone cases and nano coating materials are examples of the company's recent good performance.

Kao Kuo-lun, general manager of the company, indicated that cell phones have already become necessary communication tools for most people in the world. He estimated that the production value of related materials needed for the products would reach thousands of million dollars a year.

Kao disclosed that Eternal Chemical is planning to set up an overseas affiliate to handle the marketing of its new high-tech products.
