Taipei, July 3, 2003 (CENS)--The UBS Waraburg Group of Switzerland yesterday unveiled the financial giant's new corporate identity system (CIS). The new name for all of the group's business divisions will be shortened to 'UBS'.

The famous logo of the three keys representing security, secrecy and stability will remain unchanged. Executives said the new UBS name represents the "one team, one focus" spirit of the various divisions of the UBS Group, which was founded over 140 years ago but has expanded operations worldwide with successive acquisitions.

UBS companies presently provide comprehensive services, including banking, securities, asset management, and investment banking. The group has also cemented close business cooperation with Cathay Financial Holding since 2000.

The firms will soon move their offices to a just completed financial center building built by Cathay Financial Holding adjacent to the Taipei World Trade Center on Hsinyi Road in Taipei. This is expected to help strengthen the strategic business alliance between the two partners.

The new CIS also marks the initial formation of a financial holding company by UBS to reinforce financial services in the Taiwan market. UBS has set a goal of achieving 100% growth in financial and investment management services for the more affluent customers. It has set a minimum requirement of US$500,000 for such service, but the average fund and assets put up by customers far exceed the figure.

The UBS Group has not ruled out the possibility of expanding operations in Taiwan through mergers and acquisitions for bigger market share.
