Main power device makers enjoyed revenue growth in Dec.

Taipei, Jan. 13, 2003 (CENS)--Four listed local manufacturers of power supplying devices saw their revenues for last month rise from December 2001, with SIMPLO Technology Co., Ltd. Recording a whopping revenue rise of 192%.

The other three companies are Li Shin International Enterprise Corp., Billion Electric Co., Ltd., and Xepex Electronics Co., Ltd. Li Shin and Billion Electric are listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange while SIMPLO and Xepex on the local over-the-counter (OTC) bourse.

SIMPLO specializes in the production of lithium(Li)-ion battery packs for use in desktop PCs, notebook PCs, PDAs (personal digital assistants), and other appliances. Delivering 265,000 battery packs, the company garnered revenue of NT$315 million in December, soaring by 192% from December 2001 but dropping by 12.5% from the NT$360 million posted in November 2002.

SIMPLO sold 2.14 million battery packs last year, with the corresponding revenue of NT$2.69 billion climbing by 42% from 2001. The company expects a delivery volume of more than 2.5 million battery packs for this year.

Li Shin produces power supplies and transformers used in electronics equipment. The company rang up revenue of NT$262 million last month, edging up by 3.7% from a year earlier. Last year, the company raked in revenue of NT$3.37 billion, jumping by 32.5% from 2001.

Billion Electric is also a maker of power supplies and transformers. The company brought in revenue of NT$98 million last month, a large year-on-year rise of 80%. The company's 2002 revenue came to NT$1.02 billion, attaining 99.8% of the goal for last year.

Xepex makes power transformers and supplies mainly. The company's revenue of NT$172 million for last month climbed by 49.3% from December 2001 but dipped by 14.5% from the preceding month. The company reaped revenue of NT$1.86 billion in 2002, growing by 43.4% from 2001 and fulfilling 99.8% of the target for last year.

Meanwhile, Sea Sonic Electronics Co., Ltd., another OTC-listed local producer of power supplies, posted revenue of NT$74 million in December and NT$830 million in 2002.
