Billion Electric to deal out dividend per share of NT$2.5 for 2002

Taipei, March 13, 2003 (CENS)--Billion Electric Co., Ltd., a local manufacturer of broadband networking/communication equipment listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, will distribute a dividend per share of NT$2.5, NT$1.8 in stock and NT$0.7 in cash, for its operation last year.

Billion Electric's board of directors, at a meeting on March 11, passed the dividend distribution and decided to hold this year's shareholders meeting on May 27. The company produces ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) and ISDN (integrated services digital network) equipment at its domestic factory, and turns out power supplies and transformers mainly at its factory in Guangdong Province, mainland China.

The company's financial performance for last year is as follows: revenue of NT$1.029 billion from domestic operation and NT$631 million from mainland operation for a total of NT$1.660 billion, pretax profit of NT$267 million, and earnings per share of NT$3.69.

Billion Electric obtained an order for ADSL from Tiscali, the third largest ISP (Internet services provider) in Europe, late last year and delivered 15,000 sets in January this year. In anticipation of increasing orders, the company will add an automated ADSL production line, with completion slated for the end of next quarter.

The company expects its revenue for this year to exceed NT$2.0 billion, growing by over 20% from last year.
