Major makers of power supplies enjoyed revenue growth in March

Taipei, April 8, 2003 (CENS)--Three listed local manufacturers of power supplies saw their revenues for last month increase from March last year, with SPI Electronic Co., Ltd. Recording the highest growth of 23.7%.

The other two companies are Sirtec International Co., Ltd. And Li Shin International Enterprise Corp. SPI Electronic and Li Shin are listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and Sirtec on the local over-the-counter bourse.

SPI Electronic specializes in producing power supplies used in desktop PCs, with half of its output for OEM (original equipment manufacturing) clients and the other half for sales under own brand. The company rang up revenue of NT$465 million last month, rising by 23.7% from March 2002 and by 15.7% from February this year. The company raked in cumulative revenue of NT$1.353 billion in the first quarter of this year, going up by 12.7% from the same three months of 2002.

Apart from power supplies, Sirtec produces toner cartridges used for laser printers, TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) driver panels, and set-top box (STB) controller panels. The company saw its revenue of NT$343 million for March rise by 15% from a year earlier and by 24% from February.

Of Sirtec's revenue for last month, NT$125 million from sales of power supplies, NT$80 million from TFT-LCD driver panels, NT$69 million from STB controller panels, and NT$68 million from color and black & white toner cartridges. The company's three-month revenue came to NT$946 million, a year-on-year rise of 24%.

Li Shin garnered NT$335 million in revenue last month, going up by 22.5% from March 2002. Of the revenue, NT$182 million was from sales of power supplies and NT$153 million from transformers. The company brought in three-month revenue of NT$934 million, rising by 10.73% from the same period of last year.
