Taipei, April 11, 2003 (CENS)--Sertec International Co. claimed yesterday that the firm has already obtained an order for car stereo cases from Alpine of Japan recently.

Executives at Sertec said that the delivery to Alpine would reach 1.8 million units per year, creating revenue of about NT$400 million. With a gross profit rate of over 30%, Sertec expects to gain pretax profit of about NT$120 million from the recent order.

The order from Alpine will cover five latest car stereo case models. Sertec will be responsible from the very beginning for a variety of processes, including molding, plastic injection, auto painting, coating, printing, laser carving, electroplating, and relevant assemblies, executives of Sertec said.

Sertec expects to soon start mass production at its Dongguan No. 2 plant in Guangdong Province, mainland China in April. The monthly delivery is set at about 140,000 units per month, with revenue to reach about NT$30 million.

Alpine is famous for its high-price and quality car stereos. The firm has now sold about five million units per year in the global market, representing some 10% of the world market share.

Sertec expects to gain other orders such as laser cartridge cases from Alpine in the future.
