Universal Scientific to sign loan agreement with Chinatrust Bank

Taipei, June 25, 2003 (CENS)--Universal Scientific Industrial Co. will sign today a contract with a 10-member banking group, led by Chinatrust Commercial Bank, for a NT$2.2 billion syndicated loan.

The participating banks include Bank of Taiwan, Taipeibank, Industrial Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Business Bank, Hsinchu International Bank, Ta Chong Bank, Far Eastern International Bank and Tainan Business Bank.

Universal Scientific is a major supplier of information technology products and Internet related products. Its main products include wireless local area networks, multimedia add-on cards, chip resistors and power modules.

It has recently started cooperating with Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) in the production of modules for IC testing.

In the first five months of the year, Universal Scientific posted revenue of NT$14.6 billion, up 20% from a year earlier.
