Taiwan's Passive Component Suppliers Enjoy Sales Turnaround
2008/08/08 | By Steve ChuangTaipei, Aug. 8, 2008 (CENS)--After experiencing sales recession in the second quarter of this year, Taiwan's suppliers of passive components have commonly seen a significant turnaround in sales performance in July, optimistically expecting a sales boom to hit the sector in the second half of the year despite intensifying concerns about the world economic depression and inflation.
As a leading supplier in the sector on the island, Yageo Corporation scored shining combined revenue of NT$2.128 billion, up 10.3% from June and hitting the second- highest level of all time. The firm noted that surging demand for smart phones around the world helped it to post a new high of even 1.3 billion units in its single-month shipment of 0201 series chip resistors in July.
In the month, Yageo scored sales revenue of NT$13.804 billion, up 11.8% from last July. Worth mentioning was that the firm's sales in China hit the second highest of NT$1.07 billion in July and aggregated NT$6.633 billion in the past seven months of this year, growing 23.4% from a year earlier.
On the other hand, after posting single-month revenue of NT$2.7 billion in June and hence unseating Yageo as Taiwan' No. 1 passive component supplier, Walsin Technology Corp. is expected to further push up its July revenue to between NT$2.75 billion and NT$2.85 billion, and may see its overall sales revenue to smoothly exceed NT$20 billion for entire the year.
In the meantime, King Core Electronics Inc. posted sales revenue of NT$70.78 million in July, increasing 15% from a year earlier and 5% from a month earlier, while Ralec Electronic Corporation scored combined revenue of NT$132.1 million in the month, with NT$68.106 million generated from Taiwan.
Also, Polytronics Technology Corp. and Holy Stone Enterprise Co. have both scored new highs of NT$93.13 million and NT$1.241 billion, respectively, in their July revenues.
