Chinese Lighting Highlights Minimalist Style and Green Energy

2009/04/03 | By Apple Ding

Three features will characterize the styling of China-made lighting products in 2009: minimalist design, natural materials, and green energy. Some of the country's new models of crystal lights, for example, have an appearance that belies the meticulous attention devoted to their design and materials. Some adopt the black color, emanating a mysterious feel and a low-profile aristocratic aura.

Some models use natural materials such as paper, wood, and silk, which are combined with floral and animal designs to give the products an artistic element.

"Green" lighting has come into vogue along with the emergence of environmental awareness, leading to the growing popularity of LED lighting for residential applications and major engineering projects alike. In addition, LEDs offer more colors than conventional light sources, making them a favorite with modern consumers of an individualistic bent.

In line with the introduction of a wide range of attractive lighting products, growing numbers of lighting vendors are stressing the design of their outlets, furnishing them with such things as carpets and furniture to create a realistic setting for the display of their lighting products.

Following are profiles of some major Chinese lighting makers:
