Compal Lands Netbook Orders From Nokia

Taipei, Oct. 29, 2009 (CENS)--Compal Electronics Inc., on of Taiwan's leading contract manufacturers of laptops, is benefiting from the launch of the "Booklit 3G" Netbooks by the cellphone giant Nokia, and is expected to again profit when Nokia prepares to launch a new Booklit 3G sometime in 2010.

In addition to Compal, others in the Booklit 3G supply chain as key part suppliers will also profit, including Shin Zu Shing Co., a specialist maker of bearings; Simplo Technology Co. for casings; Chicony Electronics Co. for keyboards; Ju Teng International Holdings Ltd. for notebook housings, and HannStar Board Corp. for printed circuit boards. And rumors are that Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co. is the excusive supplier of connectors for Nokia's Booklit 3G Netbooks.

Nokia has recently begun accepting orders for Booklit 3G Netbook in North America, where it will put the new product in Best Buy, the wholesaler, to ride the upcoming Christmas shopping wave.

Equipped with Intel's "Atom" microprocessor, the Booklit 3G Netbook is 1.25 kilograms in gross weight, two centimeters thick, has a 10-inch TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) flat panel, aluminum alloy casing, and multiple connecting options.
