Robust Shipment Estimated for Asustek's Tablet PC

Taipei, May 30, 2011 (CENS)--In light of brisk shipments of Eee Pad Transformer, which is a mixture of tablet PC and netbook going with an attachable keypad, industry executives estimated Asustek Computer Inc. would deliver a total of 2.5-2.8 million tablet PCs throughout this year.

The company sets to ship around 300,000 Eee Pad Transformers in June and 400,000 units in July, up from around 100,000 systems delivered in May.

Asustek has debuted the latest product since the first quarter separately in Taiwan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and mainland China. It plans to launch the device in Germany, Italy, Spain and France soon.

According to the company's subcontract suppliers, contracts for Eee Pad Transformers have been surging sharply, straining their production lines. To assure product quality, Asustek has sent its executives to inspect production at contract suppliers.

Industry executives expect the gadget to rival Apple Macbook Air II with its ultra slim design.

Industry executives compare the robust sales of Eee Pad Transformers to the company's one-time bestselling netbook Eee PC, whose peak shipment was 600,000 systems a month.
