2011/09/28 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, Sept. 28, 2011 (CENS)--Barco, a global technology company specializing in providing imaging systems, recently set up an international procurement office (IPO) in Taiwan to source projector and opto-electronic parts and components etc. on the island.

The Belgium-based firm is expected to register revenue of about 1 billion euro this year, and further expand purchases in Taiwan.

Barco designs and develops visualization solutions for a variety of selected professional markets, including medical imaging, media and entertainment, infrastructure and utilities, traffic and transportation, defense and security, education and training and corporate audio/video (AV), with its own sales & marketing, customer support, R&D and manufacturing facilities in Europe, America and Asia-Pacific, being active in over 90 countries with about 3,500 employees worldwide. In 2010, the firm posted sales of 897 million euro.

A senior manager said that Barco has set up both IPO and sales subsidiaries in Taiwan, with the former also responsible for purchases in China and Japan, and that Taiwan is a major electronics supply base globally, stressing that Barco's products target niches rather than price-competitive markets.
