Taipei, Oct. 12, 2011 (CENS)--The 37th Taipei International Electronics Show (TAITRONICS), held Oct. 10-13, is estimated to bring Taiwan's electronics manufacturers US$300 million of orders, according to co-organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

The trade fair draws an estimated 3,500 professional buyers from the world to shop among the 800 exhibitors displaying their latest products at 1,450 booths, according to the quasi-official TAITRA.

TAITRA pointed out that it had invited 107 buyers with annual revenue exceeding US$100 million to shop at this fair and set up over 1,000 procurement conferences on the sideline of the fair for buyers, including 41 government procurement agencies.

The trade show is co-located with Broadband Taiwan 2011. Together, they feature themes including radio frequency identification (RFID), broadband communications, digital TVs and value-added services, and cloud computing.

At the cloud computing pavilion, exhibitors are promoting infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS) applications.

TAITRA pointed out that Taiwan is globally known for quality manufacturing of electronics and information-communications technology products, commanding the largest share of the markets for chip resistors, wireless network-connectivity cards, and Internet Protocol phones, as well as the second largest share of the markets for LEDs, IC substrates, and printed circuit boards.

The co-organizer estimated the island's export value of communications equipment to hit another high this year, as European and American telecom carriers will put up more procurement bids and mainland China will continuously push for its policy of subsidizing rural citizens buying broadband products and information-communications technology products.

Y.J. Chiao, chairman of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA), another co-organizer of this show, pointed out that the hazy global economy would pose a harsh challenge to electronics markets in the fourth quarter. However, he felt that releasing cloud computing and LED lighting products would help foster the market.

Chiao pointed out that Taiwan's electrical and electronics industries will withstand the impact of the economic slowdown thanks to the solid foundation of the two Taiwan industries. Last year, Taiwan's electrical and electronics industries together generated revenue totaling US$247.1 billion, accounting for 53.1% of the island's total industry revenue.
