Everlight's Yeh: Efficiency Replaces Price as Key Factor in LED Lamp Consumption

2012/06/21 | By Ken Liu

Taipei, June 21, 2012 (CENS)--Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. Chairman Y.F. Yeh recently said that price is already replaced by efficiency as the driver of LED lamp consumption, citing sell-out of the company's 100,000 pieces of LED light bulbs, priced at NT$299 (US$10.3 at US$1: NT$29) per piece, within two days at 7-11 stores across Taiwan in mid-May.

Yeh noted that the company stocked 100,000 LED lamps at 7-11 stores on May 16 and all of them were sold out the second day, adding that the successful sales suggests that consumers are motivated to buy the bulbs by efficiency over price of the lamps.

Yeh continued that light efficiency, color rendering, and dimmablility have now dominated consumers' decision to procure the lamps or not. The company's bulbs produce 80 lumens per watt, and are 270 degree wide in beaming angle and dimmable.

He said making the company's bulbs available at 7-11 stores is to grant consumers a very convenient access to the bulbs. Everlight has filled over 60% of Taiwan's market for LED bulbs.

The company, he noted, will also work with retail chains when it starts to enter into mainland China's LED lamp market.
