Hon Hai Group to Move Foxconn Asia-Pacific Headquarters to Beijing

Taipei, June 8, 2006 (CENS)--Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., the world' s largest electronic manufacturing service provider, has resolved to move the Asia-Pacific headquarters of its mainland China manufacturing subsidiary Foxconn to Beijing, northern China from Shenzhen of Guangdong Province, southern China.

Foxconn is the registered trade name created by Hon Hai to facilitate production in the mainland. Foxconn-branded products include motherboards, graphics cards, optical storage devices, workstations, servers, slim PCs, barebone systems and information appliances.

Hon Hai is currently a global leader in providing mechanical solutions. It is the largest manufacturer of connectors for use in personal computers in Taiwan, and a leading manufacturer of connectors and cable assemblies in the world. The company also manufactures enclosures, primarily for desktop PCs and PC servers.

Hon Hai Group currently has eight production bases, excluding those for the production of cell phones, in the mainland, including Lunghua of Shenzhen, Kunshan of Jiangsu province, Beijing, Hangzhou of Zhejiang province, Taiyuan of Shanxi province, Jincheng of Shanxi province, Jiaxing of Zhejiang province, and Zhongshan of Guangdong province. The group' s China headquarters is now located in Lunghua, with a total workforce of 130,000.

With mainland China' s production center shifting to the north from the south, at the end of last year Hon Hai completed its deployment for the production of motherboards and printed circuit boards in northern China. Currently Yantai Science & Technology Park of Shandong province in northern China has become Hon Hai Group' s largest production base for panel-based products.

Hon Hai currently takes advantage of the huge pool of talents in northern China to focus on the production of mobile communication products, such as cellphone cases and connectors on an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) basis. The group said it would use the Yantai' s advantageous geographical site as a springboard to tap the cellphone markets of Japan and South Korea.

Besides the production deployment in the mainland, Hon Hai has also expanded production worldwide, especially in Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland, Mexico, India and Brazil.
