Taipei, Dec. 13, 2004 (CENS)--Most of Taiwan's power-supply manufacturers registered hefty revenues in November thanks to the arrival of traditional business peak.

Last month alone, Delta Electronics Inc. raked in NT$5.9 billion (US$185 million at US$1:NT$32), Acbel Polytech Inc. had NT$1.3 billion (US$39 million) and SPI Electronic Co., Ltd. Reported NT$800 million (US$25 million). All of them scored the year's best monthly revenues in November.

Upbeat sales at second-tier suppliers on the island have lured foreign investors to scoop up investments in them from No. 1 player Delta.

Recently, foreign institutional investors over-bought Acbel shares, holding a total 12.8% stake in the Taiwanese power-supply maker. The company's November revenue 2004 represented a 26.26% increase from the same month of last year.

Acbel has depended on power supplies for high-performance servers, transformers for notebook computers and liquid-crystal displays, power supplies for telecommunications and broadband gears and power supplies for clone computers for most of its revenue.

Acbel executives pointed out that their company's shares were attractive to foreign investors on grounds that the industry has been relatively steady as compared with other computer-peripheral segments and their company's favorable dividend policy.

Boosted by burgeoning sales, many of the island's second-tier suppliers have begun buying their own treasury stocks. HEC Group recently decided to buy three million treasury shares. The company had revenue of NT$210 million (US$6.5 million) last month alone, floating its total revenue for the first 11 months to NT$2 billion (US$62.5 million).

Xpex Electronics bought 1.7 million treasury shares until Dec. 3. Over the first 11 months this year, the company reported a revenue totaling NT$2 billion, with its November revenue amounting to NT$200 million.

Zippy Technology Corp. estimated its November 2004 revenue at NT$230 million (US$7 million) or so. The company's power supplies are mostly for servers consuming power ranging from 300 watts to 1,000 watts.
