Power Base Gains a Powerful Base in DC Brushless Motors, Blower Sets

Power Base Co., Ltd. Already a leading AC electric motor maker in Taiwan, recently diversified its product line into 12V/24V DC brushless motors/blower (fan) sets for bus air-conditioner systems, making it a world pioneer in the business.

Power Base president Jeanie Liu says that her company's DC brushless motor features industry-beating product life (over 20,000 operating hours, compared with about 3,000 hours of traditional brush motors), environmentally friendly operation (no waste powders are generated from carbon brushes), low noise, and low maintenance (no need to exchange carbon brushes), making it a popular replacement for traditional brush motors. Brushless motors, she adds, are more cost-efficient than brush counterparts over long-term operation.

Power Base has developed a series of high-efficiency DC brushless motors and blower sets, which can be adopted in air-conditioner systems for buses, trucks, and other long-distance transportation vehicles; express frozen and refrigerated trucks; pumps, gears, and other special applications.

Liu claims that her company developed the sophisticated built-in electronic drivers in the company's brushless motors. The drivers give the motors many advanced functions and enhance performance.

Power Base's DC brushless motors feature several outstanding functions. They are speed adjustable, can work both clockwise and counter-clockwise (CW/CCW), have over-current and lock-rotor protection, and soft-start ability. Liu stresses that Power Base is not only a motor maker but also a total-solution provider, with a strong R&D team specializing in hardware and software integration.

Established in 1989, Power Base supplies high-quality motors to many big international electrical machinery brands in Taiwan and Japan. Currently, the company runs two production plants, one in Taiwan and another in mainland China, with total annual capacity of about 400,000 motors.

Power Base exports its brushless motors and blower sets to major customers in the U.S. and Europe. The company is ISO 9001 certified.

Power Base frequently cooperates with many leading technical research institutes and universities in Taiwan, including the Precision Machinery Development Center, China Productivity Center, Industrial Technology Research Institute, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, to enhance its technical ability. In addition, Power Base often takes part in overseas apprentice group held by government institutes to improve its R&D and manufacturing strength.
